A report from the event by one of our team:-
“After a long day full of nervous preparation – the end of a 3 month journey involving lunchtimes, Thursday and Sunday evenings – the 19 member ACC choir, A Bonnie A Chord took to the stage in the Beach Ballroom on Sunday evening. None of us had sung in front of an audience before and the event was packed out to 900 capacity so to say there were nerves at the start is an understatement, however we soon got over this as we began our performance and all the previous efforts paid off.
After the 10 choirs had performed the panel voted and the Lord Provost presented the winners’ award to the 30 strong Wealth Management Group St James’s Place Choir (who sang a song from Disney’s Brave looking resplendent in full tartan finery, and sounding just as good). Having said that, ACC A Bonnie A Chord quite won the crowd over with the performance interrupted by delighted applause with many, many congratulatory remarks from members of other participating choirs afterwards!
All 10 of the choirs did the event proud winning praise from host Fiona Kennedy and displaying a vastly different array of styles to make it memorable for the audience who got their own chance to ‘Sing Sing’ towards the end in a participation event led by Laura Pike.
Many choirs have been preparing for this since December last year, demonstrating huge dedication to this very worthwhile cause.
The amount raised by ‘Sing Sing’ on Sunday night totalled over £28,000 and the money is still coming in!
Thanks for all the support and good wishes.”
I am certain that you all join with me in congratulating all our colleagues who took part in such a worthwhile event.
