With all due respect to our Celtic-supporting colleagues, I’m sure everyone agrees that an Aberdeen win in tomorrow’s Scottish Cup Final would be fantastic for the City as well as for the Club.
While I’m not saying I was still at school the last time Aberdeen won the competition, I’d not been away that long! Surely the time has come for the Dons to bring the cup back from Glasgow.
Another superb city centre occasion delivered yesterday evening, well done to all involved in staging such a successful event.
Here’s a message I received this morning from our colleague Will Burnish which really says it all:
I took part yesterday in one of the Senior Men’s Support races and then hung around for the main event. ACC staff put on a brilliant event, from a cyclist perspective it was an amazing course quick and technical, with brilliant support from the community, it was 18 laps of hell and coming 3rd last was an achievement.
The evening was an amazing atmosphere and the city was buzzing with people engagement. The staff I saw out were working hard and showing how good the city is.
From my perspective the whole ACC team from the roads team to city events to street cleaning showed how we can put on a brilliant national cycle race.
And the sun shone!
My thoughts are with everyone affected by last night’s appalling news from Manchester. The targeting of this latest attack is particularly shocking and heart breaking. I know we will all feel the grief and sadness felt by the people of Manchester.
We are liaising with colleagues in Police Scotland. Whilst, this morning, there is no intelligence to suggest an increased threat to Scotland, we must all remain vigilant and mindful of the threat posed by terrorism, reporting anything suspicious.
