As Scottish Apprenticeship Week draws to a close I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight that HR colleagues, led by Bill Taylor, are championing the case for young people to be given the opportunity to work for the City Council.  Bill co-ordinates the Aberdeen Guarantees and the Career Ready initiatives.

One of the pledges the Council made as an employer in relation to Aberdeen Guarantees, was to develop Modern Apprenticeships.  They are a key feature of the Council’s strategic workforce plan and will play a vital role in achieving our aim to have a workforce with the skills and knowledge to sustain growth and diversify the City’s economy.

Bill is asking all services to examine the possibility of establishing Modern Apprenticeships within their teams.  If this is something you think could be done where you work in the Council drop Bill a line (he uses his Sunday name William in his e-mail address).
